MIT is proud to be the landlord for KOENEN’s first overseas headquarters. A German precision engineering company specializing in technical screen-printing in microelectronics, photovoltaic and new markets, KOENEN chose 30 Loyang Way to be the location for its first overseas headquarters in Singapore. The company’s Singapore headquarters “KOENEN Asia” is in-charge of overseeing the company’s growth plans for Asia .
KOENEN said it has chosen to move to Singapore as they foresee the future of renewable solar energy – where its core business is in – to shift focus from the western markets to Asia. The company’s other consideration was to be closer to its business partners and clients who had also located themselves in the Asian region.
On 1 March 2011, KOENEN Asia held its official opening ceremony which coincided with the birthday of its founder Mrs Isabella Koenen who flew from Germany to Singapore to officiate the event. Mrs Koenen also took the opportunity to celebrate her birthday here in Singapore.
With the opening of its Asia branch, there will be 3 companies operating under the KOENEN name: KOENEN GmbH, KOENEN Solar GmbH and KOENEN Asia Pte Ltd.
“In the dynamic and shifting solar market KOENEN strengthened its role as partner for precision screens with the foundation of KOENEN Asia in September 2010. To be closer to our customers in Asia has of course economical and technological benefits; however we also see this as a great enrichment of our company culture. In the past KOENEN has proved to grow with new challenges,” commented Mrs Isabella Koenen, President of KOENEN.
When asked about their reason of choosing to locate in Singapore out of the other Asian countries, Chief Operating Officer of KOENEN Asia, Mr Robert Covic explained that KOENEN’s management were won over by the political stability, reliable legal system and safe business environment that Singapore had to offer.
Credit was also given to Mapletree’s Industrial Marketing team especially Senior Marketing Manager, Mr Gary Chia, who was praised by Mr Covic for his prompt and quick response to the company’s needs and requirements, allowing them to setup their Singapore office in a swift and hassle-free manner.
KOENEN Asia currently occupies 15,000 square feet of space in a property managed by Mapletree Industrial. It is currently used as an office and production site for KOENEN’s products and services.
